Abstract

"Kahani ikk Maa Di" is Zahid Hassan's fifth novel in which he chose a female lead and threw light on the socio-cultural structure of our society towards a widow. She apparently owns everything a woman in our society can aspire to i.e. lands, wealth and impressive looks but the only thing she lacks is the protection of a man and the security he provides. It also throws light on the women's strong character which as a mother they have to portray in the absence of her spouse. This paper intends to study this societal phenomena in depth.
