Abstract
In this article I have discussed the folk stories of Punjab which were included in “A Punjabi Phonetic Reader “written by Thomas Grahame Bailey .This book was published during the British period in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. Apparently, this was written to intend to teach Punjabi language to British officers and missionaries who had come to the region, and to familiarize them with the culture and social environment of Punjab and the purpose was to equip them with linguistic and cultural knowledge so that they could administer the region more effectively. In this article, we have deeply analyzed the text and transliterated these stories into Punjabi Persian (shahmukhi) from Roman script.
