Abstract
Guru Nanak or Baba is considered one of the great teachers and the founder of Sikhism in human history. The theological epicenter of Sikhism is baba Guru Nanak's teachings however the nine subsequent gurus helped the Sikhism to build its religious foundations. The only thing which Guru Nanak left behind is his hymns which are 974 in number, not any other relevant text is available that may decipher baba's intellectual life. These poetic hymns are considered the founding positions of Sikhism. This article foregrounds the socio-cultural, geo-political and religious aspects of Guru Nanak's poetry that establish the Sikh religion as one of the great religions around the world. The human characteristics of the hymns have also been discussed in this article.
