Abstract
This research paper presents a comparative stylistic study of the Ghazals of Ahmed Mushtaq (A renowned Urdu Poet) and Dr. Yunus Ahqar (well known Punjabi poet). It identifies how both Poets have drawn on similar styles, artistic methods of creating emotion, use of language and the symbolic system they have developed. Both making use of a language which is very much the similar (Punjabi and Urdu), both poets maintain a tradition of Ghazal, sharing similar intellectual and aesthetic values while having very different structures. In the stylistic analysis, it can be seen that Dr Yunus Ahqar's ghazals have significant emphasis placed on the local culture in which they were written, as well as a simple flow of language. Ahmed Mushtaq's ghazal is based on a sense of modernity and simplicity. This paper adds understanding of both poets and how their creations are harmoniously created within the framework of the two languages; something of great importance in such a rich and diverse culture as Punjabi and Urdu poetry.
