Abstract
This paper discusses the language policy of the Punjab government, focusing on the Punjabi language and the identity of the Punjabi people. It explains how language, race, and culture play an important role in making a nation. The paper also shows that questions of identity and policy are very sensitive. Finally, it describes the social, political, and institutional barriers that stop Punjabi language from growing and being promoted in Punjab.
