Abstract
In classical folktales (Qissas) poets not only discuss Punjabi culture and maintain the quality of poetry but also describe the different spices because of their benefits and medicinal properties. They define different spices like Carom Seeds (Ajwain), Cohinder (Dhnia), Cumin (Zeera), Black Paper (Kalimirch), Cardamom (Ilaichi), Turmeric (Haldi) etc. These spices are not used in the classical tales to balance the verses of the tales but also describe the importance of these plants in the life of human beings which are proved by science. So this discussion shows that these poets were not only poets but also scholars, scientists and Vaids (Herbal Experts). In this article it is tried to explain the different spices and their medicinal value herbal. Which are used in the classical folktales.
